About Inns Division

The 150 businesses in our Inns Division are a varied collection. For example, both our Old English Inns and New Bridge Inns brands provide hotel accommodation, while Wayside offers an informal, adult dining concept which is more pub than restaurant in a number of houses. Then there's The Exchange Bar & Grill brand, which operates in a small number of out-of-town retail sites and is famous for its authentic handmade burgers. Alongside Inns sits Hardys and Hansons. These are high volume branded food businesses with a focus on great value and great service. (Please scroll to the bottom of the page for more detail). But while they're all very different there are certain qualities they all share. A warm and welcoming atmosphere. Good quality, traditional food. And of course, first class customer service. We pride ourselves on being "anything but ordinary!"

What you need to know

  • Destination character hotels & inns and Wayside pubs.
  • Primarily a food-led businesses. And while all offer fine dining, some also offer accommodation and conference & banqueting facilities.
  • Average weekly sales £15K.
  • Split 60/40 in favour of food.
  • Accommodation ranging from £2K to £12K per week.

What we look for in our managers

  • The ability to attract the local market into the restaurant and bar.
  • For those offering accommodation, the ability to attract the rest of the world into your rooms.
  • A strong track record of managing a Hotel or Coaching Inn (minimum 10 bedrooms - maximum 70).
    Experience of conferences and functions would also be an advantage.
  • Ability to support & develop your team.
